Why We Made This:

  • Understanding parenting, attachment, and moral development theories can be challenging due to the overlapping terms and models that these concepts encompass. Many people find it challenging to connect Bowlby's attachment theory to Ainsworth's Strange Situation or to relate Baumrind's parenting styles to child outcomes. Additionally, differentiating between the moral development theories of Piaget, Kohlberg, and Gilligan can be confusing. We created charts to simplify these concepts, providing concise explanations and relatable examples to help you grasp the big picture and remember key details.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the major attachment styles (secure, avoidant, ambivalent, disorganized) and how they are assessed.
  • Differentiate parenting approaches (authoritarian, authoritative, permissive, uninvolved) and understand their impact on child development.
  • Understand and compare moral development theories from Piaget, Kohlberg, and Gilligan, including stages and critiques.
  • Identify Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems and describe how environments shape development across multiple levels.
