Why We Made This:

  • We created this visual guide to help folks understand and remember foundational memory models and attention theories. Many learners find it hard to keep the models straight and to see how they apply to everyday situations. This guide uses clear visuals, memorable examples, and concise explanations to make complex cognitive psychology concepts accessible and easier to master.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the Atkinson-Shiffrin Model of sensory, short-term, and long-term memory.
  • Explain Baddeley & Hitch’s Working Memory Model, including the phonological loop, visuospatial sketchpad, central executive, and episodic buffer.
  • Describe the Levels of Processing Theory and how depth of processing affects memory.
  • Identify how selective attention and auditory processing work through dichotic listening tasks and the cocktail party phenomenon.
  • Differentiate between attention models, including Broadbent’s Filter Model, Treisman’s Attenuation Model, and the Bottleneck Theory.
