Why We Made This:

  • Learning about neurocognitive, psychotic, and mood disorders can be challenging due to lengthy and complex texts. To help with this, we created charts that provide clarity and structure, making it easier to connect diagnostic criteria, symptoms, and theoretical concepts. Our intuitive charts and comparisons allow you to retain complex information and confidently differentiate between these disorders in practical situations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand and explain neurocognitive domains such as memory types, executive functioning, language, and social cognition.
  • Distinguish between dementia, pseudodementia, and delirium — including their similarities, differences, progression, and prognosis.
  • Identify diagnostic criteria and symptom profiles for psychotic disorders, and clearly differentiate between positive and negative symptoms.
  • Compare and contrast mood disorders, including Bipolar I, Bipolar II, and Cyclothymia, along with their distinct mood episodes and durations.
  • Learn major theories of depression — such as Beck’s cognitive triad, Seligman’s learned helplessness, and attribution theory — with concrete examples that bring the concepts to life.
